Laboratory

In a refinery, the laboratory is responsible for physical testing of crude, products, and intermediate streams. This testing can range from generating a full assay for a crude sample to testing a single property in a product such as gasoline octane.

Many refineries rely on both an on-site laboratory and off-site third-party laboratories for their testing needs.
