Coke drum

The coke drum is the vessel in the coker facility where pet coke accumulates as the cracking reaction occurs.

Cokers have multiple drums that are filled sequentially in a semi-batch process. When a drum is full, it is taken out of service, cooled, and emptied of coke.

The size and number of coke drums is a key determinant of a coker's capacity.
