Barge

Barges are non-ocean-going tankers used to transport crude oil and refined products in coastal waters and inland waterways.

Barges are smaller than other tankers and have flat bottoms that allow them to navigate in shallow waters.

Areas with very active barge markets will have spot market transactions quoted for barge cargoes. Because these are smaller than tanker cargoes, they are generally higher in price.
