Catalyst
A catalyst is a substance that enhances a chemical reaction without being one of the reactants.
Most refining conversion units employ some type of catalyst to expedite the chemical reactions taking place.
Common catalysts used in refining include:
- Hydrofluoric acid - Alkylation
- Platinum - C4 isomerization
- Sulfuric acid - Alkylation
